THIRD SOUTH PACIFIC CANADIAN FRIENDSHIP TOUR 2009

The “Canadian Moose” are hosting a third Friendship Tournament in Toronto, Canada from Friday, February 6 to Sunday, February 15, 2009. The proposed tour is for 10 days.

The tour is open to both male and female players of all ability levels. Team entries, individual player entries, and all supporters are welcome. Supporters and players will need to sign a tour contract (see website). The Moose can provide a goalie or extra players if needed.

There is a limit of 30 people. Places will be held based on payment of a deposit.

The overall price of the tour is $3990.00 Canadian, payable directly to the Canadian Moose. (The price has increased as the airfares have risen and due to a fuel surcharge. Airfares comprise over 75% of the cost of the tour.) The tour price is for Sydney and Brisbane departures. All other locations may incur a surcharge due to airfare price variations. Surcharge discounts may apply if 10 people travel from a single airport. Cash or cheques should be made payable to: Canadian Moose Ice Hockey Club. Please email Mark Sadgrove ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) to arrange tour payment.

A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 Cdn. is required by each person to secure an airline seat and is payable with registration. The deposit can be paid at any time and is the only method to reserve a tour place. The remaining $3490 Cdn. must be received by November 25th. After this date registrations may still be taken but we cannot guarantee seats will be available. If an individual decides to drop out after Dec 1, 2008, then he or she must forfeit their $500.00 deposit and a suitable player or supporter will be found to take their place.

Key features for 2009 include:

  • Airfares to and from Canada.
  • Transportation to and from airport.
  • Transportation to and from games from Moose Headquarters.
  • Bed and breakfast for 10 days. If you choose to stay at a hotel, this is at your cost.
  • All ice fees – using top facilities!
  • Planned activities during the days, e.g. clinics, scrimmages, and games. Games will be geared to skill level.
  • Training – increased from last year in response to requests from players.
  • Trips to ice hockey equipment outlet and discounters which sell top brands.
  • Visit the Ice Hockey Hall of Fame – downtown Toronto – entry at your cost.
  • Day trip to Niagara Falls and Niagara-On-the-Lake.
  • Optional shinny games throughout the week ($5 per day, 18 years and over).

If people wish to stay longer, a bed and breakfast is available for an additional 12 days at CDN$60 per person per day, however no transport will be provided after the 10 day tour is completed.
If you wish to deviate to another city or country and extend your tour, for example, flying to Hawaii for a stop over, this cost is additional to overall costs. If an individual withdraws from the tour after paying in full, they are responsible for finding a suitable player or supporter to take their place. They must forfeit their $500.00 Cdn. deposit but a refund of $3490.00 Cdn. will be made once the suitable replacement has paid in full.

Sponsorship

We encourage players to pursue sponsorship and fundraising ventures to defray the cost of the tour. A Marketing Package and Fundraising ideas are available from the Canadian Moose.
