A game that did not start too well for the Cyclones with the Flyers scoring 4 goals in the first period, and Matthew K under siege in goal.
However, at the first break the Cyclones were rallied by Coach Chris A and Charlie F in his first game as captain. Charlie F lead from the front, and was all over the rink. Matthew K seemed to grow bigger and fill the goal to only have 2 scored on him in this period, (despite being slashed well after the whistle). Unfortunately no penalty was assessed, and player safety should be the official's first concern. Matthew K was the referee's MVP.
In the third period the Cyclones went up another gear and really took the game to the opposition. The Cyclones shut the Flyers out in this period and dominated for long periods. This dominance built on solid defence with Troy A and Karla P very strong and prepared to match bigger players. The period ended with no goals scored by either team, but a moral victory to the Cyclones.
